Depending on your qualifications, you can join one of three different Master’s Accelerator options. Don’t meet the English language requirements? No problem, we also offer Pre-Accelerator Intensive English to help you prepare for a successful Master’s degree experience at KU.

KU offers a simple, fast admissions process for Master’s Accelerator applicants. No references, resumes, essays, or GRE / GMAT scores are required.

To help you make a smooth and successful transition, KU offers three distinct Master’s Accelerator programs. The three programs vary by duration, number of credits earned towards your degree, and level of English language support. Direct Master’s Accelerator Program (Direct MAP)

Achieve more than academic success

For the high-achieving international student, Direct MAP provides an exclusive and academically rigorous first semester experience. Direct MAP students earn a semester’s worth of credits in their graduate degree as well as benefit from additional professional development and research courses created for international students. The Direct MAP program is perfect for graduate students who also want the academic, cultural, and professional support to thrive at KU.

Direct Master’s Accelerator Program (Direct MAP): 1 semester

Test score requirements: IELTS 6.5+, no subscore below 6.0 / TOEFL 84, no subscore below 23 except speaking

Advanced Master’s Accelerator Program (Advanced MAP)

Advanced MAP is designed specifically for international students who want the benefit of English-language and academic training. This one-semester pre-Master’s program will help you excel in immersive English-speaking classrooms throughout your postgraduate studies.

Advanced Master’s Accelerator Program (Advanced MAP): 1 semester

Test score requirements: IELTS 6.0, no subscore below 5.5 / TOEFL 70, no subscore below 19 except speaking

The Advanced MAP curriculum offers a balance of University-wide and MAP-exclusive courses. In particular, you benefit from English-language course supplements that give you the practical, subject-specific vocabulary and skills you need to excel in your coursework. You can enter the program in the spring or fall, and will be enrolled as a full-time student within the Master’s Accelerator.

  • Get just the right amount of support when you need it, with a curriculum designed to accommodate your academic and English-language needs.
  • Earn credits while taking courses suited to your needs as an international student, helping you achieve your academic and career goals.
  • Develop your skills for the graduate and professional level, with special learning objectives and English language skills tailored to your goals.
  • Benefit from both open and closed courses, so you’ll be in some classes with U.S. students and others with just your designated MAP cohort.

Note: Advanced MAP students will be enrolled as full-time students with 9+ credit hours. Upon progression from the Master’s Accelerator, students will transfer 6 credits into their degree.

Note: For non-MAP Graduate program applications, students should plan on completing their application anywhere from 4 to 10 months prior to start date.
Students are advised students applying to a program with a GRE requirement must submit GRE scores to KU. GRE code: 6871.
